Save Rock And Roll

I absolutely LOVED Fall Out Boy’s fist album since their reunion. I enjoy all the songs(I’m still trying to understand Miss Missing You, however), so that was a big plus. The only grudge I have against it was that it was the bands first time featuring other singers. I’m fine with that. But who did they invite to sing with them? Foul-mouthed rappers. These songs would have been fine without the bad language, but it was their decision, and it’s to lat to change it now. Other than that, this is a great album, and I think that everyone could benefit from it. Also, this was the first album where I actually liked at least half of the songs(it was also the second full album I listened to). Anyway, I’ve run out of words to say ‘this album is the best’, so I guess that’s it.

PingPong Cannon

Many professional ping pong players can hit the ball at what can seem to be the speed of light. But returning the ball is the more difficult portion of the game. So, William Gurstelle built a 300 mph ping pong cannon. It was based on the Corps of Discovery Air Rifle. This was first wielded by the Austrian army at the turn of the 18th century, but became best known as the weapon used by Meriwether Lewis during the Lewis and Clark expedition of 1803-06. Gurstelle brought in a volunteer and pressurized the cannon. Go online at popsci.com/pingpongcannon to see the results.

Waking Up

OneRepublic’s second album was pretty good, with some of my favorite songs(All The Right Moves, Good Life, Everybody Loves Me, and Secrets), but I noticed it lacked some qualities that I think every album should have. For instance, Waking Up was really calm at the beginning, but then got super overpowered with sound about a minute in. Overall, I’d give this album a B due to lack of fundamentals. Don’t get me wrong; most of the songs were great- it’s just that there were too many sudden changes in the overall beat of a song.

Smoke And Mirrors

Smoke And Mirrors delivers a whole new taste of my favorite band, Imagine Dragons. Still featuring some of that upbeat, hardcore alternative rock that came with Night Visions, most of these songs sound as if they were produced by a whole different band. Friction, Polaroid, I’m So Sorry, Hopeless Opus, and Summer are the songs that felt most foreign to me. Although it took some time for me to enjoy them, I’m So Sorry and Hopeless Opus are now two of my favorite songs on the album. Gold is clearly my favorite included on the album, with a good chorus and beats.

Money: Then And Now

It all started a long time ago, when people started living in groups. People realized the true worth of things and began bartering cows for corn, sheep for water, etc. We soon came to the conclusion that cows and sheep can’t fit in a pocket. So, we manufactured gold coins and used the coins for money. That wasn’t very practical, either. Due to their weight, the gold made carrying money a pain. Paper money was made and everyone lived happily ever after… until we started using plastic money. Credit and debit cards started to rule the world. Using a crumpled $5 bill was like hunting food with a bow and arrow. Now, the card era is ending, and a new, digital era is beginning. With PayPal,  Apple Pay, the Wells Fargo app, and many other money transfer apps around, the history of money shows us that our lives really are becoming full of technology.

Drone Racing

Drone racing is a very stressful sport. It consists of contestants steering drones around a flag-marked track. Pilots competing in the races wear goggles that are hooked up to a camera at the front of the drone, so it is like they are in the cockpit of a plane, only there are crashes, many sudden flips, and loss of control. Some people in their first races even throw-up. This goes to show that drone racing isn’t for everyone!

Bottle Bazookas

If you want a bazooka, your neighbors might not think that’s a great idea. So, many people make their own out of cardboard, duct tape, and a soda bottle. While it might not be quite on the level of a U.S. Army M72 rocket launcher, homemade bottle bazookas sure do pack a punch. Bazookas were designed to stop tanks in the early stages of  World War Ⅱ. In the late 1940s, the military created a new type of grenade capable of penetrating tank armor; but, the grenade had a very short range. So, 2nd Lt. Edward Uhl made a device to make the grenade go farther. And what did he invent? The bazooka!

American Beauty/American Psycho

American Beauty/ American Psycho is a wonderful album by Fall Out Boy, a punk rock band. The 11 songs make you feel energized and pumped up. In fact, my pregame ritual is to listen to Irresistible. Fall Out Boy’s second album after their reunion is proving to be one of their finest.

Spy School

Spy School by Stuart Gibbs is a great series. So far, there are three books (Spy School, Spy Camp, and Evil Spy School), which follow 13-year-old Ben Rippley. Ben is recruited by the CIA to attend their spy academy. In each book, Ben pretty much has to save the world. These action-packed, humorous books won’t let you be a normal person (because your nose will be in a book with a silly-looking cover) until the very last page.

Hi Everyone- I’m Mazer585 and I’m here to help you get caught up on all of your favorite hobbies. I apologize if you don’t enjoy the hobbies I’m writing about- if I get enough requests, I might add another hobby to the mix! (So far I’m writing about books, sports, music, and movies) If it’s a topic I don’t know much about, I’ll do some research on it- and write about it if I understand it! (Video games are one of my iffy topics, but I’m getting there. Don’t worry!) With this being my first post and all, I hope you like my blog!!!!!
